A Transformation Special in the pristine Mountains
with Walter Bertolini and Din van Helden

PRESENCE IN THE WILD is a 8-day wilderness journey and profound self-experience in the pristine nature of the Southern Carpathians in Romania. This awareness retreat, which is inspired by and is following the tradition of ‘Nature Quests’, is a unique opportunity to experience a deep immersion in nature. Out in this wild nature, you can allow your mind and body a deep recreation and relaxation from the distractedness of everyday life. Your whole being will get more aligned with life itself. These often deep experiences of connectedness, presence and clarity are a healthy base to (re) connect with your true intentions.

The first part of our ‘Journey’ takes us into one of Europe’s most extensive areas of virgin forests, home to the continent's largest populations of wolves, bears, and lynx, and stunning biodiversity. Gently walking and consciously staying in the Southern Carpathians' amazingly untouched forests and mountains will open your senses and refine your perceptions. Additionally, a couple of overnight stays in an eco-friendly wilderness cabin will give us the opportunity for direct and close wildlife observation.

Well prepared, with senses sharpened and a spirit more at rest, we are setting out for 4 days and 3-4 nights of solo time in nature.

At the heart of this process are ideas and practices, developed by JOHN P. MILTON ( and adopted from other transformative practices for today’s purposes. All to support you in releasing inner blockages, arriving in the present moment, and shaping your inner clarity.  Moreover, you will strengthen the ability to see and consciously experience yourself as an interconnected, interdependent partner of nature.

About the Retreat

This journey in the remote Carpathian Mountains invites you

  • to a conscious time off, to refocus yourself and engage curiously in an inner reorientation,

  • to detach yourself from the busyness of your mind and everyday life, to practice letting go, relaxation, and, if needed, to face inner 'blockages' in a gentle and, at the same time, effective way,

  • to experience a profound connection with your deepest intentions and the underlying potentiality of life force,

  • to recharge your life/ (self-) leadership role at its root,

  • to take the seeds from this experience back home and plant them into your everyday life context.

Creating an inspiring Space

How do we go about creating this space? How do we access and experience a different quality of Being and Knowing, which is often described as a state of 'Presence'?  Somehow through entering this space we realize, something we have always known deep inside, that nature itself (your inner, outer and true nature - see - the 3 Natures) is the most powerful teachers of all … ‘the intelligence of life in its purest form'.
This experience does not stop with becoming more aware about your own personal coherent Self, it invites you to access as well the space of our extended Self, which includes the ones around and dear to us ('social body') and much more Nature ('mother earth body') itself.

During that time we will stay in one of the huge project areas of our partners CARPATHIA (see the wonderful work they do: and in close vicinity of 2 National Parks (Fagaras Mountains and Piatra Craiului).

Our intentions:

based on our own extensive experience as practitioners, coaches and guides over many years, we will provide you with helpful tools (i.e. work on mindset, intentions, contemplation and awareness practices, counseling etc.) in order to support you individually and collectively throughout your personal awareness and transformational process. We encourage reflection and maintain an secure environment for your learning and growth, which will allow you to connect fully with your 3 ‘Natures’ (inner, outer, true)’.... And, honoring the traditions we draw on and the wonder of nature, we hope each of us leaves the retreat with a joyful heart, firm clarity and a clearer intention to act in new ways.

The conceptual background is based on old wisdom traditions as well as contemporary whole system approaches toward deep transformation (Way of Nature, U-Process, Contemplation, Systemic Change, ..).

We invite you to join us on this ‘journey’ for unforgettable 8 days in the Southern Carpathian Mountains (Fagaras Mountains) and be part of this program.
